Request for Permissions to Show Media
What is a public performance?
According to the U.S. copyright law (Title 17, United States Code,
Section 110), a public performance is any screening of a videocassette, DVD,
videodisc or film which occurs outside of the home, or at any place where people are gathered who are not family members, such as in a library or in a classroom. Even if no admission is charged you need this license.
This form is to be used by Faculty to request permission to show media in the classroom. Note: It is not needed for Films on Demand and SOME media kept in the Library as permissions have already been attained and are on file. Please consult your Library Coordinator for details.
